Infonet Presenter - Import and Manage Content
Import and Manage Content in Infonet Presenter

Files of valid types can be imported into Infonet Presenter in 3 ways:

  1. By file sharing in iTunes (new Shared Documents feature in the iPad)
  2. From the device’s Photo Library
  3. From the Mail app on the iPad that allows attachments of pre-defined types in emails to be opened with Infonet Presenter.
  4. From Box.Net cloud based file management system

Which method you should use depends on the number of files that you are trying to bring into

Infonet Presenter as well as where you are at the moment. If you are travelling and do not have access to your office or home computer, e-mail would work best. Importing pictures from your Photo application on the iPad is possible but limited to one picture at a time (this is outside our control) so this feature should be used sparingly since it is time consuming. The most elegant way to import a number of pictures and files is through Shared Files area of iTunes.

Adding files from Shared documents contains logic that flag files over a certain size for potential memory problems during the presentation. Such files are marked in a red font and you will receive a warning message while adding them to your Infonet Presenter folder. You may add them freely but we strongly advise that you test run them in presentation mode before actual use to be sure that they will execute well. Due to the automatic nature of iPad memory management we can not predict with certainty whether a certain size of the file will cause problems.

Please follow the specific instructions below on how to use the different file import methods:

File sharing allows files to be transferred to the iPad when connected to a computer with iTunes. Connect your iPad to your computer and open the Apps tab as shown below. Scroll the page until you see the File Sharing area and all applications that can use this service. Select ‘Infonet Present’ and then press the ‘Add’ button at the bottom. This will open a file browser, navigate to the desired folder and select the files that you want to import and add them to iTunes. Once files are added in iTunes they are immediately transferred to the iPad. Valid files are displayed in a selectable list and can be copied to a folder inside Infonet Presenter.

Open Infonet Presenter, press on the ‘Add’ button to open a dialog shown in th eimage below. Select the files that you want to import and the target folder where these files will be stored. Please make sure that the folder already exists or create it by pressing ‘New Folder’ button at the bottom of the dialog. The image below describes this process:

After you press ‘Save’ the selected files are added to the folder you have chosen.

From Infonet Presenter, you can copy any image or video available in the iPad photo library. The media can be previewed, renamed and copied to any existing folder. Please do not use this method for mass imports since it allows adding only one file at a time. This is an iPad limitation.

Import Pictures From iPad Photo Library

Press Add and select the Photo Library option.

The dialog presents the albums and then the pictures or videos within the album as shown on the right. A tap on a file will select it and close the dialog. This is an automatic iPad behaviour.

The selected file is displayed in a window as well as the dialog allowing you to rename the file if you so choose and save it in a desired folder.

Press and Hold

You can configure your iPad e-mail client to your corporate or a private account. Open th ee-mail with the desired attachment You press and hold the attachment and a pop-over dialog shows up with an option to “Open in Infonet Presenter”. Once Infonet Presenter starts it will present a dialog asking for the name and folder to place the attachment, which is now a local file for presentations.

File Sharing in iTunes

From the Mail Application on the iPad

Before you start the presentation, open the Infonet Presenter application, make sure
that you have Network or WiFi connectivity and that you are connected to the projector,
monitor or the TV set (make sure that the TV is set for PC input).
Navigate to the desired URL
using the Search/URL bar or press
the ‘Google’ button to use the
Google search engine to find the
Site.

Disable Auto-complete
Sometimes you need to access
the corporate intranets and need to
disable the auto-complete function.
You can do this by accessing the
application settings on your iPad.
Turn on the display function and
navigate the site as you would
in a normal browser.
In order to avoid surprises make sure that you preview the site on your iPad before the
presentation. As a rule of thumb, Infonet Presenter will display all sites that can be viewed
in the Safari browser. This should cover most sites on the Web. Of course you should
not forget that Adobe Flash does not display on Apple devices.

Navigating to On-line Web Based Content

From Box.Net Cloud File Storage

You can access this function from the “Add” files to local storage button. Select Box.Net option. The first time you use this method you would log on to your Box.Net account, afterwards you will be presented with the dialog on the right and navigate to your Box.Net folders. From there you can select the files for download and store them locally. You can add them to an existing folder or create a new one. This process is quick and you can do this during a presentation to respond to information demands.

Once the files are stored locally, please follow the normal Infonet Presenter file management procedures
